Remote desktop for Mobiilles
For Java MIDP 2..0 deviices
Getting Started Guide
Remote Desktop for Mobiles software consists of two components: the server part and the
client module.
• The server part (RDM local service) should be installed on the remote computer.
• The client module should be installed on your mobile device.
To work with your computer through the mobile device, you should install both these
components.
1. Installing the client module on mobile
If you already have installed the client on your mobile device, please see next section.
You can download the client directly to your mobile device. The WAP download location is:
wap.shapeservices.com
Open the page ‘Download’ and choose right client module for your device.
If for some reason you can't download the client module directly, or error occurs at download,
you can download files from our site. Open the page ‘Download’ in your computer browser:
http://www.shapeservices.com/en/ ... &platform=midp2
2. Starting the client
If you already have started the client, please see next section.
If the client is completely installed on your mobile phone and works properly, you will see the
title screen at startup.
Before you can connect to your computer through mobile phone, you should configure access
to the Internet for third-party applications. As a rule, you should make right settings for access
point name (APN) in data service settings on the mobile phone.
Most mobile networks offer two different APNs: one for full Internet connection and another
that is a more limited set, often used for WAP only. You should configure APN for full Internet
access. Internet APN is used by third-party applications which needs direct Internet access
(such as various messengers, web browsers, email clients, etc.) or when you use mobile phone
as modem to access Internet from your PC.
Specific settings for the Internet APN for your mobile phone, you can know from support service of your
mobile network operator. We recommend you precise the following: which tariff plan is the optimal for
using third-party applications, and which settings are proper for working with full Internet access through
TCP/IP connect. If is problematic to connect via TCP/IP connection type, please select HTTP connection
type in Setup section.
3. Registration and trial
If you already registered, please see next section.
After the first launch of RDM+ you will be asked to insert the registration key, which you have
received with the purchase of the program. Please, insert the registration key into
corresponding field and select 'Register' from menu.
If you want to use RDM+ in trial mode, choose ‘Trial’ from the menu.
4. Connecting to the test server
If you can connect to the test server, please see next section.
When the client is installed and all data service settings are made completely, at first you can
try to connect to our test server. With our test server you can make sure that the client works
on your mobile device properly and all data service settings were configured correctly.
The test server entry is already added into the client address book by default. If not, you can add the
computer number "10-000-000" to address book of the client and specify the user name as "demo". No
password is required.
Choose the menu item ‘Connect’ for connection to the test server.
After successful connection, the client will display the notification message about connection to
the test server. After closing it, you will see the general list of messages. In this list the
messages about connection process, messages from the server and error messages are
displayed.
If you had connected to test server successfully, select ‘Desktop’ menu item to pass to
desktop view mode.
The test server works in demo mode. It only shows the work with the remote desktop and
displays several examples of to execute management commands. The complete list of
management commands, mouse and keyboard controls is disabled.
