SL45 Mod由于非常钦佩楼主,不得不说声好!

[size=+1]Background The article describes how to open your Siemens SL45 case with minimal to no damage. It also describes (coming soon!) detailed instructions on how to replace the LED's [size=+1]
[size=+1]WARNING The following instructions are given by the author in good faith.  You will invalidate your SL45 warranty by performing these modifications and if you are unfortunate or careless you will destroy your SL45. The author takes not responsibility for the fitness, completeness or accuracy of these instructions.  They are for your information only; follow them at your own risk.  It is not a step by step guide .... it is simply what I did.  DO NOT ATTEMPT REPLACING YOUR LEDs unless you are comfortable soldering small SMDs.

Opening the case
Unfortunately for us Siemens decided to manufacture the SL45 (as per most of their phones) with a screwless clipped case design, which while being cheaper to manufacture and assemble, is not easy to disassemble without damaging one or more of the clips and possibly the case. Siemens appears to have now changed design, for the case of the S55 is primarily screwed shut, (there are probably other newer Siemens mobiles similarly designed).
The first part of the guide which I am publishing today deals with opening the case of the SL45. I used two tools + two credit cards to open the case. You can see the main tool that I used below. It is essentially a screwdriver with a hooked blade / tip.

The procedure that I used to open the case involved levering open the bottom of the case, carefully un clipping the only hidden catch on the case, and then progressively jamming a credit card between the front and back of the case and releasing each of the remaining visible catches.

Sounds simple doesn't it. Well don't worry it is, almost, you just need to be a bit patient and take care! Below I have several photos of the case disassembled, so that you can see how all of the catches work, and where they are located, especially the hidden catch.

The five catches on right hand side of the case (convention viewing from the back) are all accessible from the back of the phone with the battery removed.

Here you can see the hidden catch, just after opening. You can see that I left a small mark on the back part of the case, this is probably unavoidable, unless you are even more patient that me! (very possible).

Ok, last look at the hidden catch. If you damage your case opening your phone, it will be this catch, so more information and photos are better than less imho.

Opening steps
Convention note:  Whenever I say the left hand side (LHS) or right hand side (RHS) I mean it with the back of the phone facing you.

1 / Lever open the bottom of the case using a smooth flat blade. I used the large screwdriver on my Swiss-Army knife. A blunt table knife would be similar. Simply insert the blade between the top of the SL45 data / charge port and the back part of the case. Lever the blade upwards, ie so that the front of the blade would press into the black port and not the back of the case. As you lever the blade, the case will pop open at the bottom.

2 / Now we want to jamb open the left hand side (LHS) of the case as much as possible, without breaking or distorting the back of the phone, while giving us as much access as possible to the hidden catch. I did this by jamming a credit card between the newly exposed catch (on the left bottom of the phone) and the front of the phone, on the LHS. I then carefully inserted my hooked screwdriver into the catch and levered it open. Once you have the hidden catch open you can slide your credit card along the side of the case, between the front and the back in the little grove, up to the next catch. By placing some tension on the catch, it makes it easier to open, ie when you lever the catch, you will know that it has opened.  You will note that in the picture below that I am using the screwdriver upside down.  I found that the angle of the blade made it impractical to use the 'correct' way around.  Using it like this still gave me enough leverage to pull the catch in enough to release it.  Release the two catches on the LHS.

3 / Repeat the process on the RHS of the phone, using the second credit card.  Ie Slide the credit card from the bottom of the RHS of the phone, between the front and back parts of the case.  It should get stuck as you reach each catch to be released.  When you release each catch, you then slide the credit card along to the next catch.  The reason for doing this is a) to ensure that released catches stay released / open, b) to give a bit of positive tension to the catch so that it is easier to tell we have released it.  Once you have released the five catches on the RHS, we need to gently open the case progressively from the bottom.  There are two hidden catches at the top of the phone that will release by themselves as we progressively separate the front and and back of the case.

OK ... the next bit replacing the LED's will be written on my next flight.  Did you know the Singapore Airport has free 4Mb Internet via wireless lan and IR?!! hence the ease at which I can upload this
